Beacon Support Group

Easton, MA

Supporting one another through building Christ centered friendships, we in Beacon strive to encourage each other in our Christian homeschooling efforts. Two ways the support is expressed, is in the support group and co-op.

The Beacon support group offers opportunities for parental support meetings, fellowship and field trips for the whole family. Activities such as school year kick off, Christmas party, promotion ceremony, and history and science fairs, are just a few of the events and activities offered. Membership in the support group costs $35 per year.

Beacon also has a co-op. Families involved in the co-op are required to teach classes and share in the varying responsibilities in running the co-op. The classes are divided by elementary, ages 6 to 11, and junior senior high, ages 12 and up. There are two semesters consisting of 10 weeks each. Parents are encouraged to teach whatever subject interests them or their children. In the past, people have taught classes such as science labs, hands-on science, history, American Girl history, flying throwing and launching, ping-pong, Lego challenge, baking, knights of the realm, cooking, kitchen science, chemistry, French, sign language, gym and photography, just to name a few. Membership in the co-op automatically enrolls you in the support group and cost $50 per year, plus the cost of individual classes.Families must have completed at least one year of homeschool in order to participate in the co-op. Additionally, membership and the co-op is dependent on space availability.

We are moving to a new location: we will be meeting at Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleborough, MA 02346.
